Have You Been Unknowingly Undermining Your Diet?

We all know that one of the best foods for our diet plans are lean meats, whole grains and healthy fats. These food items load us with protein and energy. They help our bodies be balanced without infusing lots of calories that we will need to work extra hard to burn off at the gym. Are you aware, however, that a few of the foods you've been thinking are fine for your diet could actually be making you retain weight? They could possibly be even adding calories to your body! Check out a few of the ingredients that might be allowing you to accidentally sabotage your diet.

Sports Drinks aren't serving you whatsoever. You've most likely been told that if you wish to help your body renew itself after a work out, you should drink a sports drink. Most doctors will tell you, though, that if your workout doesn't go over ninety minutes then you really should be fine just by drinking water. Sports drinks are packed with sugar and calories and a lot of other things you don't need such as artificial flavors and colors which defeat any attempts at eating only natural products. Try drinking some chocolate milk instead. The sugar in chocolate can help your muscles begin to fix themselves plus the calcium in the milk will strengthen your bones.

You don't need protein shakes. Lots of people believe that protein shakes may be used instead of meals and to curb cravings between meals. The truth of the matter is that when you are already eating a balanced diet all the protein shake does is overburden your system with protein. Converse to popular belief, protein isn't stored as muscular fiber, it is really stored as fat. This means that if you have already ingested too much protein that day, your system will simply store what it doesn't need in your fat cells and that doesn't help you lose weight or inches of your waist line at all.



Pre-packaged deli meat seriously isn't as good for you as you may think. It's typically thought that a sandwich constructed of whole grain bread and lean pre-packaged deli meat is a pretty good lunch time item. The truth is that pre-packaged deli meat is loaded full of preservatives and about a third of your suggested daily sodium intake. This can be particularly harmful if you are at risk for heart disease. Rather than purchasing pre-packaged deli meat, pick some home cooked poultry or the deli meats that is freshly sliced at your deli counter. Sure these are generally a lot more expensive options but they are rather a lot healthier for you.

There are a lot of things that we think will help us lose weight: eating a whole wheat bagel in the morning, by way of example is actually a lot worse for you than a bowl of oatmeal with some cinnamon sprinkled into it for flavor. Ask a medical expert which food items are right for you and then eat those. If you are cautious about what you eat and therefore are good to your entire body, losing weight probably won't be all that big an issue.
