Wrinkle Treatments

By Anne Fennell

As of late, big gains have been made in the area of cosmetic procedures, and facial wrinkles are a heavy focus in this. It appears that we now live in a society where face wrinkles place you in a category of being 'old', and with more and more people now on the search for younger looking skin.

What is the process of wrinkle treatments like? With so many offering the treatments, what is it you should be aware of before you opt for it? In this article, we will examine wrinkle treatments in more detail.

Exactly what is involved when getting wrinkle treatments?

Damage to our skin can come from a variety of sources, pollutants in the atmosphere coming from vehicle exhaust, potentially harmful UV exposure from the sun, smoke, many things contribute to this. This damage can result in the formation of fine lines on the skin called wrinkles, which can be cosmetically unpleasant to look at, especially if there are too many.

Removing wrinkles is achieved by using botulinum toxin, as it is an effective wrinkle treatment. Other treatments can include chemical peels, laser treatments and even just plain old skin creams. The popularity of botox treatments is gaining ground quickly, despite the other options available. We see ads for products on the market constantly, but the truth is that anti-wrinkle creams can only do so much to make wrinkles less noticeable.

Which of the available treatments will have the most benefit?

Unfortunately there is no clear answer to this question. Everyone is different, so the treatments chosen are tailored to the specific needs of the patient. From the available data and result, it appears that dermal fillers and botox injection have very good results, which is probably why they are so popular.

For how much time will a patient benefit from treatments?

The effects correlate to the particular treatment that is provided. The amount of time that a skin cream will be noticeable is not long, and daily use may not even make a big difference. Botox injections are a dermal filler option that will typically last for months on end.

The comparison of cost and results

For treatments such as these, it can't be done for a bargain price. The process chosen and the treatment provider are the deciding factors in cost, it can be around $300 or even up to $3000 or more, as these advanced treatments take specialized equipment, materials, and training. If someone doesn't mind applying skin creams every day and buying more often, this is an option for some. Treatments over time can be more closely examined, and the cost effectiveness of each one can be determined. Overall however, it may be that botox injections and dermal fillers are the most cost effective amongst all the treatments available for face wrinkles. There are also some doctors who make the claim that the most economical means of reducing wrinkles is by CO2 laser.

The healing process following treatments

No recovery time is necessary for skin creams. However, amongst the more advanced treatments of facial wrinkles, it appears that microdermabrasion probably has the least downtime. Having said that, this does not make microdermabrasion the best treatment as multiple treatments are required that can be rather uncomfortable to the patient.

Summary

There are a lot of choices available for the treatment of facial wrinkles. There are both good and bad points for each kind of treatment. Patients should take all of these things into careful consideration, including looking at the provider's credentials and experience, the price, and which treatments they feel they can handle best.
