Keep Your Weight Loss From Hitting a Plateau by Fooling Your Metabolism

By Wilson Resturbee

If you're like many people, then you have tried a number of diets, with varying degrees of success. It is likely you lost some weight, got to a certain point and then, no matter what you tried, couldn't lose any more. This plateau is hit by just about everyone and is common amongst all the various diet plans. You simply can't prevent the plateau problem if you don't learn how to deceive your metabolism.

You most likely have already arrived at the plateau at least once--in fact, it has possibly caused a frustrating end to more than one diet program. This is an odd occurrence, which happens to successful dieters roughly the third or fourth week of their diet. Until that point weight is coming off and then it simply quits, and nothing works to keep the body shedding weight. It's your body responding to the things you are putting it through. Your body decreases your rate of metabolism when you arrive at this point because it wants to protect you from accidental starvation. What this does, then, is stop your body from losing any more pounds.

This is what causes people to think they're not capable of losing the weight they want, and they quit trying. This is just what causes many people to start eating again and they often gain back more weight than they lost initially. The best way to stop this is to select a diet where your calories simply get shifted. What you are trying to do is consume a different number of calories daily, which is supposed to deceive your metabolism. If this trick works on your body, then it wouldn't get into the position where it is attempting to protect itself. This will keep your body's metabolism working, as opposed to slowing down, and your body continues to shed weight. As soon as you reach this point, you have passed the plateau and your diet will keep working the way it was made to.

It's not hard to work this plan into your daily schedule. One of the most widely used caloric cycling techniques is the 14 day method. This program goes for 2 weeks: you do ordinary things for the first eleven and then during the last three you eat anything you want. You can move your foods during the day and fool your metabolism and then for three days eat what you would like to eat and avoid the plateau. This could also help you from being frustrated with a stringent diet regime. Just continue repeating the fourteen days until you've achieved your weight loss objectives.

Another popular program is the 2 day plan in which you eat regularly one day and the next day reduce your calories by between twenty and thirty five percent. You do this every two days for as long as it takes you to arrive at your weight loss goals. It's a program that you really should try, since it may be exactly what can get you past your plateau, to where you will lose all the weight you want.
