Ways To Convince Children To Eat Vegetables

By George Dodson

Back in our childhood days, many if not all were always reminded by parents to eat veggies to stay strong and healthy.

It's actually a fact that many foods taste awkward specially some of the vegetables. In this regard, it will depend of course upon the persons' taste buds.

We already know that eating vegetables bring about many benefits. Equipped with vitamins and minerals, vegetables are a must eat and should always be added in our daily meal. Vegetables also differ in sizes, shapes, textures as well as colors.

Although these vitamins and minerals can be taken from supplements and drinks, it doesn't actually guarantee its effectiveness as that of taking it from eating vegetables. Knowing this, we want our children to eat vegetables. Question is, how do you get kids to eat vegetables?

For starters, you can start with the vegetables that doesn't taste too awful for children then try to make modifications for other vegetables. Sugar can be added to their meal to have a sweeter taste and add squash for the soft and smooth taste. You might saute carrots in butter and other flavors such as garlic and, which modifies the taste and makes them more palatable. A few of the best tasting vegetables are cauliflower as well as broccoli when sauted or cooked with sauce. If you're looking to hide the not-so-good taste of the vegetable, you can simply opt for these styles of cooking..

Of course, a lot of us will also agree that other fruits taste better as they are or uncooked. Its almost amazing that these veggies taste great without the help of anything. You can actually eat off the vegetable right off from its vine just like the tomato for example. In addition, you can also nibble on carrots right after picking from the garden since they are sweet and actually taste really great. This is not the case with most tuber type vegetables like rutabagas and turnips.

On the other hand, these too can be sauted and made more tasty just like potatoes and squash.

If you're going to cook vegetables, it's better to saute them rather than boil them. You retain most of the vitamins and minerals in the vegetables themselves, they taste more like their natural state, and are much easier to fix. You can also have a better taste if you prepare your vegetables Al Dente style or half cooked.

No matter how you put it, vegetables are still the best source of essential proteins, vitamins and minerals that the body. Kids don't always like vegetables due to their unlikely taste however if you can mask the taste with a taste that they love then you'll sure to feed them with any vegetable. If you do, you'll be providing your kids with all the health benefits that they need.
